Building Inspector
The Town of Troy currently contracts with an individual to perform inspections on an as needed/wanted basis.
The staff at Town Hall will contact the Building Inspector to schedule visits, as needed.
Permits for new construction of homes, additions, garages and barns require at least 4 inspections. These inspections are paid for by the building permit applicant at a rate of $50 per hour for both the inspection itself and travel time, as well as mileage at the current IRS reimbursement rate ($0.70 as of June 2025):
1) Ground, drainage and foundation inspection
2) Rough framing, rough electrical and rough plumbing
3) Insulation inspection
4) A final inspection for the Certificate of Occupancy.
